IPS’ vast experience in generator design minimizes the time from concept to prototype. Mechanical designs are created using SolidWorks solid modeling software. Extensive stress, thermal, and rotor dynamics analyses are performed using ANSYS. Generator test data is always correlated with the analysis, continuously improving the accuracy of our analysis.

Unique cooling solutions and improved winding techniques have been a trademark of the IPS design team. IPS currently has a patent for oil cooling of generator rotors (US patent #6,661,133 B2), which allows our generators to operate in hot environments. This patented design and other cooling innovations are used in current IPS generators to achieve high power densities, small size, and low weight.
Electrical Engineering:

IPS Electrical Engineering is experienced in the design of power conversion, conditioning, and control systems such as GCUs, TRUs, PDUs, ELCUs, and converters including VSCF. Electromagnetic designs are performed using IPS’ proprietary software program, which embodies 40 years of empirical experience in generator design. Hierarchical system level designs are created using Orcad software package, from the top level down to the individual components. Magnetics, analog and digital designs are simulated at both system and component levels using Multisim, Ansoft, and PSpice software programs, ensuring successful system integration.
